Adult Social Care encompasses a wide range of vital services covering;
- Commissioning Team – we commission and work with a number of providers, to ensure that people with care needs have access to a range of good quality support to enable them to live independent and fulfilling lives
- Social Work Services - we work with individuals who have care and support needs, and with their carers be they older or younger adults
- Occupational Therapy and Equipment Services - we aim to enhance people’s ability to live safely and independently in their home
- Internally Provided Services – we provide direct support to people enabling those in most need to live independent and fulfilled lives
- Business Systems and Continuous Improvement - we provide a range of services including Financial Assessments, provider payment processing and Business Systems administration. The Business Systems team provide support to Adult Social Care, Children’s Services and Education Services.

What is the job role?
We currently have a vacancy for an Independent Travel Trainer. You will work within the Independent Travel Team, coordinating work and training individuals to develop their independent travel skills, problem-solving skills, decision-making, and build their confidence to engage in new experiences.
You will work with young people with Special Educational Needs and/or other disabilities, training young people who are referred to our service, to travel between home and school or college independently.
You will liaise with individuals and their families and carers, schools, colleges and colleagues in Coventry City Council, coordinating information to contribute to the travel training process.
This post is exempted under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and as such appointment to this post will be conditional upon the receipt of a satisfactory response to a check of police records via Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).
Who are we looking for?
You will have knowledge and experience working with young people with Special Educational Needs and people with learning and physical disabilities. Using initiative and working well as part of a supportive team, you will need to offer practical support and also recognise, assess and find strategies to manage risk. You will need to be adept at communicating with a diverse range of people.
A demonstrable knowledge of public transport in and around Coventry would be a benefit.
