What is the job role?
Fixed term contract until 15th July 2026
We are seeking Team Leader in the Edge of Care Service (EOC) who has a positive attitude; has excellent analytical skills who cares about making a difference to the outcomes of vulnerable children and families, who can work effectively with key stakeholders and can take others along the journey with them. We want a dynamic leader to drive forward the positive change that has been made and further strengthen the service with their creative leadership skills.
We are currently looking for a manager to support the EOC leadership team to further develop the service and workforce. Come and join us at an exciting time and be part of the Edge of Care’s Journey as we expand, we are a team that works with children and families across the city to prevent them from becoming looked after by the Local Authority. This is an exciting service to be a part of with the voice of the child central to all the work we do, the service works with children, and young people from the ages of 8 – 18.
Joining us as a Team Leader you’ll lead, manage, and motivate staff members from the entire workforce. You will work closely alongside a Senior Practitioner, deputising for them in their absence. You will also lead on areas of development for the service as directed by the Service Manager.
You will be part of the Edge of Care Leadership Team and provide supervision to Adolescent support workers and Therapeutic Practitioners. You will motivate and support our workforce, creating an environment for social care practice to flourish. It is a fast paced, energetic, and exciting area to work in, you will be part of a close-knit team ensuring the very start of the child’s journey within Children’s Services is the best it can be.
You will provide management oversight to the team and promote a positive working culture where Children are at the heart of everything we do. The Team Leader will be contributing to daily allocations, having oversight and shared management of the EOC inbox, telephone system and on call facility, performance management and development of staff within a busy team.
This post is exempted under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and as such appointment to this post will be conditional upon the receipt of a satisfactory response to a check of police records via Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).
Who are we looking for?
We are looking for an experienced Children’s Worker to rise to the challenge of keeping children “Out Of Care” and supervising a team of workers in supporting families with trauma related issues.
You need to possess a reassuring presence, be calm in a crisis and be able to work with families in their homes, helping them to make changes and stay together.
Within the role you will be working with management in leading and supporting a team of workers, and having an oversight of all of the cases that are referred into the service.
It is essential that you bring experience of working with “Children & Families” and hold a relevant BTEC or NVQ Level 3 Health & Social Care, alongside training in childcare or child development.
The Edge of Care Service keep Children and Young People at the heart of all our work, we listen, respond and value our families and communities.
