Edge of Care Services is a team which provides support to children and young people who are at risk of entering the care system, or are experiencing crisis within their homes which could lead to them being taken into the care of the Local Authority. The team is made up of Adolescent Support workers, a Therapist, a Senior Practitioner, a Business Support Officer and a Team Manager, which brings a range of experience and expertise whilst also working with partner agencies, communities, young people, children and their families.

What is the job role?

This is an exciting opportunity to have a “Key Role” in combining direct practice with service and professional development.

You will be assisting the Edge Of Care Services Manager by providing reflective supervision to staff, advising on roles and practices, contributing to audits, action plans, and communication, preparing for supervision, deputising at meetings, and covering rotas. Additionally, you will be managing the operations of the Reunification Service, supporting staff meetings, undertake development tasks, ensure quality assurance, and provide constructive feedback. All tasks should align with departmental policy and include management oversight of court reports and on-call duties as required.

Fixed Term contract for 12 months.

This post is exempted under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and as such appointment to this post will be conditional upon the receipt of a satisfactory response to a check of police records via Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).

We are looking for an experienced Senior Practitioner to rise to the challenge of keeping children “Out Of Care.”  With a reassuring presence, calm in a crisis and able to work with families in their homes, helping them make changes and stay together.

You need to be passionate about working with children, young people, and their families, and demonstrate strong leadership and role modelling to keep families together.
