What is the job role?
We are looking to recruit a full-time Independent Reviewing Officer, on a 12-Month Fixed Contract to cover maternity leave.

We're looking to recruit a suitably experienced professional to join the Quality Assurance Service in Coventry as an Independent Reviewing Officer (IRO) and play a crucial role in promoting best outcomes for our Looked After Children and Young People.
This post is exempted under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and as such appointment to this post will be conditional upon the receipt of a satisfactory response to a check of police records via Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).
Who are we looking for?
The successful candidate will be committed to ensuring that care plans for all our children, are of the highest standard and implemented appropriately without any drift or delay. To achieve this, you will need to be able to:
- Provide on-going oversight and scrutiny;
- Communicate clear and SMART expectations;
- Monitor and track progress for children, with varying care plans, needs and timescales;
- Be confident to raise robust and effective challenge, including to senior leaders.
The Quality Assurance Service continues to develop working practices, based upon the Signs Of Safety model, to ensure that the overall approach taken is strengths-based and that the ‘voice of the child’ remains the central consideration.
The Service has two teams: One team of IROs provide quality assurance for children who are looked after, and the other for children subject to a child protection plan. The current vacancy is to cover a 12 month period of maternity leave, within the team of IROs working with looked after children.
