An exciting opportunity has arisen for the position of Head of Psychology. This post is open to a Head of Psychology with KS5 only or we have the exciting opportunity for a suitable candidate to establish a Psychology department at Cardinal Newman that includes teaching Psychology at KS4.
You will join the school at an exciting time as we prepare for the development of a brand-new school opening in January 2026. Psychology is one of our top performing A Levels with our A+ attainment being 15% above National Average. You will also be joining the school as we celebrate a progress score of +0.51 (2023) and will join a staff body who support the school motto “We are all made for greatness.”
The school has an excellent reputation, built on strong and longstanding relationships with the local community and beyond. We are a Beacon Peace School and in our recent Section 48 inspection (March 2022) the school was recognised as outstanding. Inspection report comments include:

Who are we looking for?
We are looking to recruit a dedicated and enthusiastic Head of Psychology. The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to the delivery of high-quality teaching and learning and share a passion for the subject.

- Have the capacity to lead and teach Psychology at A level standard.
- Have excellent subject knowledge and be able to deliver an engaging curriculum.
- Demonstrate enthusiasm, energy and passion for their subject.
- Have fantastic classroom management and organisation.
- Willing to work as part of a very successful, supportive and friendly team.
- Promote the Catholic ethos of the school.
