Facilities Manager

What is the job role?

FACILITIES MANAGER – WE’RE RECRUITING

St Christopher Primary School is looking for a practical, resourceful and experienced Facilities Manager to take responsibility for our large school site and help us continue to provide an environment that our children and staff can be proud of.

 Grade 6
⏰ 30–37 hours per week – flexible working pattern
Permanent – Term Time Only + 4 weeks (43 weeks)
Optional three-bedroom school house at subsidised rent
Access to a new electric school vehicle for work duties

This is a varied, hands-on management role and would particularly suit someone with a trade, construction, building maintenance or strong practical background who is ready to take on wider responsibility.

The role combines practical repairs and improvement work with responsibility for premises compliance, health and safety, budgets, contractors and the management of our site services and cleaning staff.

You'll have considerable independence to organise your workload and working pattern. Some days may involve managing contractors, compliance and budgets; others might involve investigating a problem, completing a repair or getting stuck into a school improvement project.

Our current Facilities Manager is relocating after doing a fantastic job developing our site, so the successful candidate will inherit a school that has benefited from considerable recent investment – with plenty of opportunity to continue making their mark.

Recent developments have included new flooring, fire doors, a new fire alarm panel and a major heating pump system. We have solar panels, are involved in an EV charging pilot and are continuing to develop our approach to sustainability.

You'll manage a repairs and maintenance budget of approximately £10,000–£15,000 and work closely with the Headteacher, Finance Manager, Governors, Coventry City Council and external contractors on larger projects.

The successful candidate will also be involved in recruiting a new part-time Site Services Officer and will manage the school's site services and cleaning provision.

We highly recommend an informal visit.

Come and have a walk around the school, see the scale of the site and the work that has already taken place, and have an informal chat with our Headteacher about the role.

Although recruitment is taking place during the school holidays, our Headteacher will make herself available for prospective candidates who would like to visit or to have an informal conversation week commencing 17th August contact: webenquiry@st-christopher.coventry.sch.uk

Interested?

Full details, including the Job Description, Person Specification, salary information and a letter from the Headteacher, are available on our school website.
