Please Note: The application deadline for this job has now passed.

What is the job role?

Corley Centre is a secondary special school for children with complex communication and interaction difficulties. A significant number of students have an autism diagnosis.  Students bring a range of abilities and aspirations, special educational needs, vulnerabilities, challenges and behaviours.  Student attainment covers the full National Curriculum and GCSE/vocational range.

Governors are seeking a highly driven and creative specialist English teacher to teach within and lead, if sufficiently experienced, a dedicated team of specialist and non-specialist English teachers, ensuring a challenging and robust curriculum with the highest standards of delivery.  The post will involve delivering English across all key stages and the full ability range, including GCSE English Language and English Literature. The ability to teach Drama at KS4 would be an advantage but not essential.

A TLR post holder would be a member of the school’s Middle Leadership Team, contributing to whole school self-evaluation and improvement. This career progression route could eventually be available if not secured on appointment.

NQTs are encouraged to apply.

The school has been awarded NAS Autism Accreditation and a comprehensive package of training will be provided.

The post will also involve a pastoral role.

Applications are welcome from specialist English teachers with experience in primary, secondary, mainstream or special sectors.
