What is the job role?

OUR CITY, OUR HOMES.

Coventry has re-designed and transformed its’ children’s homes provision and already have four homes across the city.  Each home is small and family styled, caring for up to four 'looked after' young people aged 10-17 on admission.

Due to the expansion of our services we are seeking an enthusiastic, passionate and resilient Manager with a good knowledge of residential care, legislation and experience of managing staff.

For some children and their families, additional time/space is needed whilst a wrap-around offer of support can be put in place or, due to level of need/trauma, some may require longer-term residential care as a looked after child.

The home will support  children needing a same day/short-term placement to ensure they continue to access individual support networks within Coventry.

We strive to achieve positive outcomes for our vulnerable children through the delivery of high-quality residential care and effective care planning for those children in need of this level of support. You will ensure that the voice of the child is heard and integral in supporting them and in the delivery of the service.

You will need to provide robust support to your staff team, identifying strengths and gaps in knowledge/skills and support them with the implementation of training plans, provide supervision and professional development opportunities.

You will participate in the recruitment and selection of employees, their induction and post-appointment assessments.

You will need to adhere to existing working practices and procedures and support the wider service to develop and implement change as needed, whilst demonstrating a good understanding of the legislative requirements of the role.

You will undertake relevant training and development activities and if you don’t already have the required management qualifications, be supported to complete these.

This post is exempted under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and as such appointment to this post will be conditional upon the receipt of a satisfactory response to a check of police records via Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).

Who are we looking for?

Successful candidates will be required to work closely with the Operational Lead to build an effective team and achieve successful outcomes for children living within the home.

You will need to be able to use your own initiative and be expected to drive forward improvements and meet the requirements of the Children Homes Regulations 2015 and best practice standards identified within the SCCIF.

We welcome applications from established and experienced Managers and applications from Deputy Managers with the skills, experience and drive to progress.
