Assistant Headteacher – Personal Development/Behaviour and Attitudes, Corley Centre

What is the job role?

Corley Centre is a Coventry maintained secondary special school for children with complex communication and interaction difficulties, set within North Warwickshire countryside.

Our students are at the heart of all we do. A significant number have an autism diagnosis. The school was awarded NAS Autism Accreditation in 2018 and again in 2021 and continues to build upon this success.  Students bring a wide range of abilities and aspirations, special educational needs, vulnerabilities, challenges and behaviours.

Student attainment covers the full National Curriculum and GCSE/vocational range, hence our equal focus on the personal and academic curricular, with all subjects taught by subject specialists.

We are extremely proud of our school’s achievements and Governors are looking to appoint an Assistant Headteacher committed to continually improving our provision for our current and future students and their families; an Assistant Headteacher fully committed to improving outcomes for each child, who will work alongside the Senior Leadership Team to share the strategic vision and leadership qualities to fulfil our ambitions for our school community.

Safeguarding is fundamental to our school. Staff are well-trained and share a common understanding of their responsibilities.  Ofsted rated our safeguarding measures as ‘highly effective’ in 2017 and it is this standard that governors will expect the newly appointed Assistant  Headteacher to maintain, while constantly reviewing practices and seeking further improvement as our young people face increasing risks in their lives.

This vacancy arises due to the promotion of our original post holder following 10 years at the school and 7 as Assistant Headteacher.
