What is the job role?

This is an exciting and interesting career opportunity for a highly motivated individual to join our Environmental Services Team and work in partnership with Human Resources.  

Some of the services you will support include Special Needs Transport (SNT) who transport services to approximately 700 passengers daily, Waste services who conduct over 1500 bin collections a day, Streetpride who cover the whole city from cleansing to parks maintenance, Pest Control, Parks, Bereavement services and many more operational non office-based types of work.  

One aspect of this role will be to deliver our corporate mandatory training on site, to our operational staff. This will be in person in a large group setting.   

Other duties of the role will include, but will not be limited to the following: 

  • Responsible for the coordination, promotion, and delivery of learning and development interventions across our teams. 

  • Work closely with the Council's Corporate Learning & Development Lead to ensure that statutory and mandatory training is delivered in line with legislative requirements. 

  • Ensure that the services training needs are continually reviewed and refreshed. Modernising our bespoke training plans as and when required, adapting visuals, and creating engaging methods of training.  

  • Create and maintain a training database, as well as our own in-house matrix system 

  • Consider added value when planning training ensuring a positive impact for employees.  

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for someone who wants to make a real difference for our employees by maintaining and improving the training and development opportunities across our teams.  

The role requires someone who has strong IT skills and administration skills, along with effective data management of training records. Someone who is confident at presenting and has a creative flair, a background in delivering training would be advantageous.   

You will have experience or a good understanding of implementing a range of learning and development tools and techniques and a good understanding of ICT systems such as Excel, Sharepoint, Office 365 and presentation packages. 

You must be able to manage and prioritise your workload to meet challenging deadlines with a high level of verbal, written communication and presentational skills. 

You will be organised, self-motivated and passionate about improving processes for employees to assist them to deliver the best services for Coventry people.

Interview date(s): Interviews will be at held at Whitley Depot the 25th and 27th March. There will also be a 10 minute presentation as part of the interview.
