About the team we are recruiting to
The Adult Education Service is part of Coventry City Council. We provide a wide range of courses for Coventry residents age 19+ and much of our provision is targeted at people with the highest levels of need.
We offer long courses in English, maths, English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL), ICT/Digital and vocational subjects such as Early Years, along with provision for adults with learning disabilities.
We also offer a very wide range of short community courses in arts, crafts, music, dance, exercise, fitness and family learning. In addition, we run a highly supportive study programme for young people.
Our work-based learning offer includes Apprenticeships in the following subject areas:
- Nursery Workers
- Teaching Assistants
- Leadership/Management; and
- Customer Care.
We also provide courses for adults who are seeking work via the Council’s Job Shop.
Our main base is at Southfields Old School, CV1 5EJ, with provision delivered at around 25 other sites within Coventry, mostly in areas of highest need.

What is the job role?
We are looking for a dynamic tutor to join our work based learning team. You will deliver on our apprenticeship programme as well as being involved in other bespoke training to support the needs of the City.
You will be responsible for planning & delivering training on the Business Administration and Customer Service apprenticeship programme ensuring a high quality service to all of our clients.
This post is exempted under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and as such appointment to this post will be conditional upon the receipt of a satisfactory response to a check of police records via Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).
Who are we looking for?
Are you an experienced trainer/assessor who delivers apprenticeship standards for Business Administration and Customer Service apprenticeships?
Do you want to work full time (job share would be considered) with a team of enthusiastic staff who deliver a high achieving apprenticeship programme?
This is an all-year-round fixed term contract with an attractive annual leave allowance of 60 days inclusive of Statutory Bank Holidays. Holidays are not restricted to school holidays..
Would you like to be involved in delivering class-based and work-based programmes that include:
- Business Administration at levels 2, 3
- Customer Service qualifications entry level 3 through to level 3
It is essential that you have all of the following skills/experience to apply:
- A minimum level 3 qualification in either Business Administration or Customer Service
- Maths and English qualifications at level 2
It is desirable for you to have
- A relevant level 4 teaching qualification, or prepared to gain this qualification.
- An assessor qualification (D32, D33, A1 or equivalent), or prepared to gain this qualification early into the role.
- Previous experience of delivering apprenticeship standards in Business Administration and/or Customer Service at level 3 minimum
