About the team we are recruiting to
The pest control and dog enforcement team consists of 8 pest control/dog enforcement officers, assistant animal welfare, and dog enforcement officer 2 x commercial support officers. proving pest control service for domestic residents and commercial customers across Coventry, Warwickshire, and the surrounding areas.
What is the job role?
Are you passionate about caring for your local community?
Do you have excellent interpersonal skills which you are able to adapt to different situations?
Are you able to prioritise and organise a workload, work under pressure and manage priorities with minimum supervision using your own initiative?
You will be given full training and will be required to complete an RSH qualification in pest control and the relevant training for dog enforcement.
Under the general direction of the pest control manager and commercial team leader, you will deal with all aspects of commercial and domestic pest control including:
- Providing commercial pest control services to our existing portfolio of customers
- Identifying and securing new business opportunities to support the growth of the contract portfolio
- Providing domestic pest control services to the residents of Coventry
- Identifying and reducing infestation to maintain public health standards across the city
- Undertake works in default too and remove household waste and carry out garden clearance work when notices to carry out such work have expired
- Assist and support dog enforcement work in the form of fixed penalty notices
- Collection of stray dogs
This post is exempted under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and as such appointment to this post will be conditional upon the receipt of a satisfactory response to a check of police records via Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).
Who are we looking for?
We are looking for an enthusiastic and passionate person that cares about their local environment and will look at ways to ensure that public health standards are maintained by employing safe working practices when applying traps or baits to both domestic and commercial customers
You should understand the principles of customer care and quality and have the ability to communicate effectively at all levels both orally and in writing with people from a range of backgrounds.
You will need to be able to:
- Effectively manage a demanding workload and deal with conflicting priorities.
- Use of the Microsoft Office software suite to produce word-processed documentation including letters and reports to a high standard.
- Influencing, persuading and negotiating skills and the ability to deal effectively with conflict and aggression
You must also hold a full driving license and the ability to travel around a wide area of the city to carry out district work.
