What is the job role?

This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of an already successful PE Department in a growing school. We are looking to expand the PE team and also support with some teaching at Key Stage 3 in Maths and/or Science. We are a school that has a focus on supporting the development of our staff with the skills and attributes to enable them to become the very best teachers and leaders.

This is a time of growth and genuine excitement for our school, we have a new wing of the building that opened in September 2022, within which we are very fortunate to have an amazing new fitness suite that consists of high-spec equipment. We also have a small gym area and large sports hall, new tennis courts and a large field. The PE department is highly regarded by both teachers and pupils within the school.

We currently offer Key Stage 4 Cambridge Nationals Level 1/2 in Sports Science and Sports Studies. We also offer in Key Stage 5 Cambridge Technical Level 3 in physical activity.

The team is committed to our pupils and has a strong culture of collaboration and interdependence. We are open to new strategies of teaching PE and are always willing to explore ideas. Any new staff member will be welcomed into the team and given the support and development opportunities required to be the best.

Who are we looking for?

We are seeking to appoint an excellent teacher of Physical Education that will be enthusiastic, dynamic and committed in delivering fun, engaging lessons that not only develop the skills of our students but also their character through leadership opportunities provided through the sports education model. We provide a wide range of activities for all key stages and an extensive extracurricular programme at lunchtime and afterschool. Students will gain many opportunities to represent their school throughout their time at Ernesford Grange. We are passionate about this as we feel it develops our students' cultural capital.

You will be employed by the trust which consists of five schools led by Sidney Stringer Academy. The schools are Radford Primary Academy, Ernesford Grange Community Academy, Riverbank Academy (Special School), Sidney Stringer Primary School and Sidney Stringer Academy.
