About the team we are recruiting to
The Keys are mainstream provisions for Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 pupils who are at risk of exclusion and are struggling to meet the behavioural expectations of their school. Short term, intensive support in a small group is provided to improve resiliency and skills and enable successful integration back into mainstream school. The provision is for 26 weeks with an integration plan to support return to their mainstream school.
We offer a broad and balanced creative curriculum which is differentiated in order to ensure that the children experience successful outcomes.
Our aim is for children to successfully return back to their mainstream school following a personalised re-integration programme planned by Key and school staff, parents and pupils.
You will work as part of a service within the social, emotional, mental health and learning team (SEMH & Learning), part of Coventry's highly respected SEND Support Service.
What is the job role?
This is a full time term time only post with UPS, SEN 1 or 2 depending on experience plus a TLR 2a.
You will be in charge of a Key Stage provision for children who need support to maintain their placement in their mainstream school. You will lead the provison and it's staff on a day to day basis under the management of the Provisons Manager.
You will be class teacher and lead on developing the curriculum and reintegration plans for pupils. You will have excellent communication skills and work with others as a team around the child, seeking positive outcomes.
This post is exempted under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and as such appointment to this post will be conditional upon the receipt of a satisfactory response to a check of police records via Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).
Who are we looking for?
We are seeking an excellent, dedicated and creative practitioner. You will be resilient and empathetic, have a consistent approach to pupil management as well as the insight to nurture the potential in pupils experiencing significant difficulties. You will have extensive experience of supporting children with a range of social, emotional and mental health needs in a primary school or a primary service setting. Leadership experience within a primary school setting is desirable. The ability to foster strong relationships with colleagues, pupils, parents, carers and schools is essential.
