What is the job role?

Brandon Wood Farm is a day opportunity for adults with a learning disability, autism and/or complex needs, located on the border of Coventry and Warwickshire. We support people that may not be able to access community activities due to their complex needs and behaviours. This is why the unique tranquil spacious setting gives us the opportunity to support people who are sensitive to sensory overload.

As a stockperson you will be expected to, under the provision of the Senior Stockperson, assist with the management of livestock and grassland. Provide support, advice and guidance on matters relating to agricultural activities to staff, service users and visitors to the centre. 

We are currently recruiting for a position offering 32 hours per week spread across a 7 day working week. 

All candidates must have the Right to Work in the UK. We are currently not offering sponsorship for this role.

This post is exempted under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and as such appointment to this post will be conditional upon the receipt of a satisfactory response to a check of police records via Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).

Who are we looking for?

You will need to be able to spend most of the day on your feet, enjoy working outdoors in all weathers, have a flexible, patient, and non-judgemental approach to your work, be able to use influencing skills, and able to demonstrate and adapt excellent communication skills.

In further detail, your key duties and responsibilities will be to: 

• To assist in the day-to day record keeping on matters pertaining to livestock and alert the Senior Support Assistant/Support Coordinator to any developments causing concern related to animal welfare.  
• To work flexible hours the week, including evenings, weekends and bank holidays 
• To undertake the duties of the post in accordance with relevant laws and regulations relating to livestock and pasture management and health and safety, including the operating of machinery.
