This post is equivalent to the NHS Band 6 pay scale – pro rata.
Sherbourne Fields is an ‘Outstanding’ all aged Special School catering for 240 pupils on roll from September 2022. Our pupils have a broad spectrum of special educational need. We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced, talented and committed professional to join our dedicated team in our ‘Outstanding’ Special School. The successful candidate will be given supervision through the Health and Care Professional Council; with protected time to enable them to access this. In addition, two weeks of flexible working can be taken out of term time to help support the management of your caseload.
As part of the school’s therapy team you will work closely with our school based Occupational Therapist and the AAC lead to further develop the use of the school’s high tech and low tech communication systems which include PODD Systems; CIP, Boardmaker; Grid 3 and Eye Gaze. As our school based therapist, you will use clinical reasoning, critical thinking, reflection and analysis to support assessments using a child centred approach.
An important and exciting aspect of your roll will include:
- Staff training
- Giving Parental support and advice
- Planning therapy programmes
- Provision of therapy
- Reporting as part of the EHC process
- Assessments and interventions
The Speech and Language Therapist (SaLT) appointed will be a registered member of the Health Professional Council and preferably a specialist in paediatrics. We are looking for a candidate who can embrace a busy and dynamic working environment, have compassion and a passion for the profession and can work as a key member of our multi disciplinary team to support our flexible and solution focused approach.
The successful candidate will be supported to manage their caseload by the Senior Leadership Team and be expected to work with our specialist NHS colleagues including specialist tertiary services such as ACT.
