The EOC Senior Adolescent Support Worker (SASW) is an exciting role that is designed to ensure that children and young people are prevented from entering the care system through an evidence based approach and practice. The successful candidate will hold a small case hold of complex families, where they are experiencing relationship breakdown for a range of reasons, providing a 12 week intervention package to prevent the young people from becoming looked after. The post holder will also lead on the aftercare provision provided to families, entailing following up with families once interventions have ended in order to ensure the appropriate support remains place. The successful candidate will also lead on ensuring the service is promoted to the wider social care workforce.

The SASW will support management in the development of operational arrangements for the EOC workforce and service going forward including, leading and supporting a  workforce in the delivery of promotional presentations and delivering aftercare programmes.

Edge of Care Services is a team which provides support to children and young people who are at risk of entering the care system, or are experiencing crisis within their homes which could lead to them being taken into the care of the Local Authority. The team is made up of Adolescent Support workers, a Therapist, Therapeutic Practitioners, a Senior Practitioner, a Business Support Officer and a Team Manager, which brings a range of experience and expertise whilst also working with partner agencies, communities, young people, children and their families.

Working Pattern: 

8.30am – 5.00pm Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday

10.30am – 6.30pm Mondays & Fridays, weekend working on an 'on call basis'.

This post is exempted under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and as such appointment to this post will be conditional upon the receipt of a satisfactory response to a check of police records via Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).
 

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for an experienced Children’s Worker to rise to the challenge of keeping children “Out Of Care”.  With a reassuring presence, calm in a crisis and able to work with families in their homes, helping them make changes and stay together.

It is essential that you bring experience of working with “Children & Families” and hold `a relevant BTEC or NVQ Level 3 Health & Social Care, alongside training in child care or child development.

The Edge of Care Service keep children and young people at the heart of all our work, we listen, respond and value our families and communities.

This is an exciting opportunity to have a “Key Role” in combining direct practice with service and professional development. You will need to be passionate about working with Children, Young people and their families to keep them together.
