Senior Adolescent Support Worker – Edge of Care Services

The service reflects and responds to the changing needs of children and their families.  It works to enable a reflective and flexible approach, with a strong Early Help offer and a real focus on Relationship Based Practice and Signs of Safety, which focuses on intervention and keeping families together.

The Looked After Children & Permanency Service works with children who are Looked After.  The service holds case responsibility from the child’s first Looked After Child’s Review or first court hearing.  The team works with children who are subject to care proceedings and those with an adoption plan, whilst also working closely with the Regional Adoption Agency-Adoption Central England (ACE).

What is the job role?

The EOC Senior Adolescent Support Worker (SASW) is an exciting role that is designed to ensure staff are supported to ensure that children and young people are prevented from entering the care system through an evidence based approach and practice. 

The SASW will support workers in managing cases, including initial responses to the direct work with young people. You will also provide supervision to Adolescent Support Workers in the team. In addition, you will support the Senior Practitioner and the Team Manager in the management and development of operational arrangements for the EOC service going forward.

Within the role you will be working with management in leading and supporting a team of workers, and having an oversight of all of your teams cases that are referred through Coventry Social Care and worked by the EOC Adolescent Support Worker’s.

It is essential that you bring experience of working with “Children & Families” and hold a relevant BTEC or NVQ Level 3 Health & Social Care, alongside training in child care or child development.

Edge of Care Services is a team which provides support to children and young people who are at risk of entering the care system, or are experiencing crisis within their homes which could lead to them being taken into the care of the Local Authority. The team is made up of Adolescent Support workers, a Therapist, a Senior Practitioner, a Business Support Officer and a Team Manager, which brings a range of experience and expertise whilst also working with partner agencies, communities, young people, children and their families.

This is an exciting opportunity to have a “Key Role” in combining direct practice with service and professional development.

You will need to be passionate about working with Children, Young people and their families to keep them together.

Please note, this is a 7 month fixed term contract. 

Work Pattern:     8.30am  – 5.00pm Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday
10.30am  – 6.30pm Mondays & Fridays – Weekend working (in line with the On Call Services) if and when needed, as instructed by management.

This post is exempted under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and as such appointment to this post will be conditional upon the receipt of a satisfactory response to a check of police records via Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).
