School Violence Reduction Lead

Please Note: The application deadline for this job has now passed.

About the team we are recruiting to

The Local Authority is looking to recruit an energetic, school aware practitioner who has a passion for contributing to the Youth Violence Reduction agenda. The core purpose is to work with schools and partners, from a school perspective, to ensure that the provision offered to young people is relevant, mapped to need and quality assured. It spans all phases of education with a focus on early intervention as prevention.  This is a key strategic role and requires some leadership experience and credibility.

This post is offered as One Year Fixed term contract in the first instance.

What is the job role?

This role would suit someone who has worked in schools, or has a full understanding of schools, as this is the key partnership. Credibility and the ability to work directly with young people is crucial. The role requires excellent communication skills, verbal and written, to enable effective relationships with the police and other partners. A clear understanding of safeguarding in its widest context is essential.

This post is exempted under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and as such appointment to this post will be conditional upon the receipt of a satisfactory response to a check of police records via Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).

Who are we looking for?

This person will be organised and able to make links, exploit opportunities, build sustainability and monitor/report effectively. They will be a self-motivated driver, with high expectations and a no excuses culture for what they believe they can achieve.

In return they will have flexibility, autonomy and support to perform a role that has enormous rewards – the opportunity to make a real and lasting difference to the individual and collective lives of the young people of Coventry.

If this resonates with you and you are exciting by what you believe you could achieve, please apply. Selection will be by an interview panel consisting of LA, school and police partners. We would be open to discussing a secondment within the salary range.
