What is the job role?

Safeguarding Support Officer (maternity leave cover) – Cardinal Wiseman School

Grade: Grade 5  £19,500 – £24,385 per annum actual salary
Hours: 37 hours a week  term time plus 1 week

We have an exciting and challenging opportunity for a Safeguarding Support Officer to join our supportive safeguarding team on a temporary contract covering maternity leave.

You will work within the Safeguarding Team to promote and safeguard students welfare assisting the Designed Safeguarding Lead & DDSL’s in all aspects of managing safeguarding concerns, liaising with external agencies where appropriate.

You will contribute to raising standards of attainment by improving attendance, reducing exclusions and maintaining good standards of behaviour and  support children whose education is at risk due to attendance related issues.

You will be expected to make home visits as appropriate to the individual case on an accompanied or unaccompanied basis as required by specific circumstances.

The successful candidate will:

  • Have a Grade 4 or above in Maths and English GCSE’s or equivalent
  • Be able to communicate with parents, staff and other professionals with confidence
  • Have access to their own transport
  • Be a dedicated professional with the ability to inspire children

  • Work successfully in partnership with parents and our community
  • Be committed to promoting the Catholic ethos of our school;

Our school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The successful candidate will be required to undertake an enhanced criminal record check via the DBS.
