Recruitment & Retention Lead - Adult Social Care

The Coventry City Council Recruitment Team is a diverse and vibrant team responsible for delivering key services for the wider organisation and external partners. Ensuring an engaging and smooth experience for our users internally and externally is at the heart of what we do and goes hand in hand with our commitment to continuous improvement.  

We are the face of the recruitment process, working closely within the business by partnering with key stakeholders to ensure that we effectively resource plan and offer the best candidate experience.  

Offering insight and best practice on attraction, selection, compliance, onboarding and induction is a core capability of the team as we act as the conduit between our hiring managers and the candidate market. Our ambition is to not just hire the best available talent but retain it, that is why we work with our colleagues across the wider HR Service to ensure additional policies focussing on induction, reward and wellbeing.  

Our work spreads beyond the Council and into our local business community whereby we partner and support local businesses on a range of services such as compliance & screening, advertising and redeployment of employees going through redundancy. Throughout the educational sector we support schools, colleges and universities in offering work experience, apprenticeships and graduate programmes guiding the next generation of talent and ensuring we maintain those skills within Coventry.    

What is the job role?

We are currently recruiting for a Recruitment & Retention Lead for our Adult Social Care department, on a fixed term contract until March 2021, to a lead the recruitment across the service area with particular focus on our external care providers.

This is new position in which you will advise and support external care providers in the recruitment and retention of their workforce, and the importance of this  to support infection control and reduce the rate of COVID-19 transmission in and between care homes and support wider workforce resilience. 

You will support and co-ordinate multi-agency work in preventing risk of Covid19 infections across care homes and other accommodation settings that house vulnerable people by the recruitment and retention of a permanent and stable workforce

Working in partnership with Adult Social Care management and external care providers  and using best practice and innovation in the areas of recruitment and retention, you will provide an effective service for recruitment of Support and Care staff.

This is an opportunity for an experienced recruitment professional to really add value and make a difference, to lead, guide and support our external providers and promote the support that Coventry City Council can provide across various recruitment methods. 

Core duties and responsibilities: 

  • Work in partnership with our external care providers to support the recruitment of a permanent workforce and support wider resilience for their homes.
  • Promotion and business development of Coventry City Council Recruitment Team’s commercial offering for external care providers to support the providers will full recruitment, advertising, attraction and selection.  
  • Lead on the recruitment of Social Care workers and other posts within Adult Social Care that are hard to reach.
  • Develop effective strategies for the retention of existing Adult Social Care staff and recruitment of new ones for Coventry City Council and our external Adult Social Care providers.
  • Design and implement effective retention initiatives to prevent the loss of good quality Social Care staff and other hard to reach posts in Adult Social Care

Who are we looking for?

In order to be successful in the role it is essential that you have experience within a recruitment setting, ideally within the Adult Social Care environment  

You will be commercially focused with good negotiating, business development and influencing skills with a proactive approach to your work and the ambition and drive to promote and develop our external recruitment support for providers.  

You will have knowledge and understanding of the importance of infection control infection control  in relation to staffing and workforce with up to date expert knowledge a of the relevant registration relating to recruitment and retention and the challenges faced across Adult Social Care. 

You will be a confident communicator with the ability to advise, recommend and support key stakeholders in workforce planning, recruitment and retention strategies.
