Real Time Surveillance Coordinator (Suicide Prevention)

The Register Office has been present in Coventry since the first legal requirement to register births, still-births, deaths and marriages was introduced.

You will need to go to Coventry's Register Office for the registration of births, deaths, marriages, civil partnerships and other celebratory services within the City of Coventry.

Coventry Register Office has been located in its current premises since the mid-1960s.

A room is provided to fulfil the requirement to complete marriage and civil partnership ceremonies for a statutory fee.

In addition to registering today's events, the Register Office holds all the original birth, marriage and death registers from 1837 to the present day.

What is the job role?

12 month fixed term contract. 

Coventry City Council’s Coroner and Registrars Service is looking to appoint a Real Time Surveillance Coordinator to support suicide prevention across Coventry and Warwickshire.  This 12 month fixed term post will develop, coordinate and embed a real time surveillance system covering death data collection, bereavement support, multi-disciplinary reviews, learning panels and cluster responses. 

This post holder will provide support across the Coventry and Warwickshire area via the Coroners teams based in Coventry and Leamington.  The role will require working closely with Public Health and Safeguarding teams in Coventry City Council and Warwickshire County Council, West Midlands and Warwickshire Police forces as well as other external partners to oversee the development of routine surveillance and response to deaths where suicide is indicated.

Who are we looking for?

The successful applicant will:

  • Have knowledge of the principles and practice of surveillance including data management, transmission, security, quality and reporting.
  • Have knowledge of regulations, legislation and policies in relation to Coroner functions.
  • Be skilled in the use of IT packages, systems and databases
  • Have excellent analytical skills
  • Have good communication skills and be able to present evidence at panels, inquests and other hearings.

The ability to travel across the Coventry & Warwickshire sub-region in addition to being able to work from home is essential.
