Coventry City Council’s Migration Team is dedicated to meeting the needs of newly arriving communities and facilitating a successful integration journey into the city. As leaders in the field of refugee resettlement, we provide support to vulnerable individuals through various initiatives, including employment, education, language acquisition and training enabling them to contribute to the economic, civic and social fabric of our vibrant city. What is the job role?
This is a 12- month fixed term contract to cover maternity leave.
This is an exciting opportunity to join the Resettlement Team and help to be a part of the wider Migration Team to ensure Coventry residents receive high quality and personalised support
- As a Project Support Worker, you will be working as part of the Casework Team within the Resettlement Project supporting clients to settle into Coventry. You will respond to a range of administrative tasks to support the day-to-day activities of the team to deliver performance objectives.
- You will be involved in face-to-face engagement tasks with the clients to support them to navigate the city, accompanying them where necessary, and to familiarise them with services and systems
- You will assist with registrations with GPs and other services
- You will triage client queries and signpost to the appropriate person be it the caseworker, the housing team or other services within the city
- You will action financial requests on behalf of the clients
Who are we looking for?
The ideal candidate should have effective communication and written skills, be able to work on their own initiative, have a meticulous approach and attention to detail with the ability to meet deadlines. The ideal candidate should be able to speak Dari and/or Pashto as much of our current client group are from Afghanistan.
You will be a highly motivated individual with experience of working closely with clients to provide excellent customer service who is able to prioritise their workload
An effective communicator who is diligent and can work in a fast paced, demanding environment
The right candidate will possess the following:
Essential
- Strong people skills to build and maintain relationships with clients
- The ability to work effectively with clients and partners both in person and online.
- The ability to work effectively both as part of a team and on your own
- Familiarity with Microsoft software such as Word, Excel and Teams
- The ability to write accurate and comprehensive case notes
- Effective time management skills, with an ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines, prioritise competing work tasks.
- Ability to handle confidential information with tact and discretion.
- Have good numerical skills
Desirable
- Car driver
- Experience of working with interpreters
- Fluent in Dari and/or Pashto
