Programme Development Officer - CW Innovation Test-Bed (ERDF)

The Economic Development Service (EDS) delivers a core function within Coventry City Council. It’s fundamental purpose is to deliver sustainable growth by creating opportunities and as such, has an instrumental role in the delivery of the Council’s ambitions and in particular the vision to promote the growth of a sustainable Coventry economy. The department also delivers objectives set by Central Government, the Coventry & Warwickshire Local Enterprise Partnership (CWLEP) and West Midlands Combined Authority (WMCA).  

What is the job role?

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join the Economic Development Service to support the delivery of a European funded Programme (ERDF).

In this role you will focus on providing programme management support to the Programme Development Manager for the delivery of CW Innovation Test-Bed project.

This is an exciting and varied role which will support the successful delivery of the programme and will involve working with programme delivery partners, business advisors and small & medium businesses.

You will lead the collation and processing of programme claims to funding bodies and project claims from delivery partners. You will also be responsible for leading the management of external audits from the funding bodies, undertaking visits to ensure delivery partners have effective monitoring systems and audit trails in place. The role also involves appraising grant claims submitted by small to medium sized businesses.

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for someone who shows initiative, has a can-do attitude and has experience in processing claims and payments. Ideally, we are looking for someone who has previously worked on European funded programmes and has a history of working in a project management environment.

If you have excellent communication skills, good attention to detail and are able to meet deadlines then this role could be for you!

Candidates with similar experience in other sectors with transferable skills will also be considered.

The role is initially fixed term until December 2022 and is part-funded by European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).

When applying for this role you will be asked to write a personal statement. Please include the following examples in your application: 

  • Relevant work experience of regeneration programmes and activities or equivalent experience in a programme/project management or delivery role, or performance management role
  • Good inter-personal skills, confidence in dealing with senior colleagues and external contacts
  • Demonstrable skill in the creation and use of spread sheets, data bases, word processing and presentation packages
  • Ability to work on own initiative and organise, plan work without close supervision.
  • Ability to analyse financial and numerical data, performance information, and written information, and draw valid conclusions and produce reports
  • Ability to communicate effectively with different audience
