What is the job role?
The Professional Support Service works across Children’s Services to deliver transformational professional support to all teams, keeping children, young people and families at the heart of everything we do.
We are seeking a professional, enthusiastic and motivated individual to become a Professional Support Manager in the service. The post holder will be responsible for a defined area of service delivery but also work as part of a wider team to lead an effective and efficient service. The post holder will drive change and continual improvement, promoting a culture of flexibility.
The post holder will need to implement and adhere to appropriate routines to ensure that all elements of the service are managed to achieve optimum performance, challenging practices or dealing with issues that directly impact on effective service delivery. They may need to ensure compliance with statutory requirements eg assessments, visits and plans.
This is a varied role, managing a number of different teams in different areas of Children's Services and each week can bring new challenges and rewards.
This post is exempted under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and as such appointment to this post will be conditional upon the receipt of a satisfactory response to a check of police records via Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).
Who are we looking for?
You will be an experienced manager with substantial experience of managing a diverse workforce, with substantial experience of working in a customer service or large scale administrative environment. You will understand the requirements of the Professional Support Service as well as a good understanding of the professional support required by Children's Services teams, which can be particularly sensitive.
You will be able to inspire confidence both in the managers you work with and in the teams you manage and you are passionate about positive outcomes for children, young people and their families.
With a proven record of effectively managing resources - budgets and people - implementing continuous service improvement and delivering high performance, you should be able to build collaborative relationships with others, constructively challenge poor or difficult behaviours and facilitate working across teams to create a positive and professional operational culture.
You should have skills in data analysis, negotiating, mentoring and coaching, verbal and written communication, influencing; be systematic and methodical as well as supportive and empathetic with colleagues and the staff you manage.
The successful candidate will be driven by a commitment to continuous service improvement and is able to innovate to deliver the best possible professional administrative support to enable and enhance a practitioner’s role in supporting children and families.
