Principal Town Planner – Development Management

Development Management is a service area within Coventry City Council which supports the growth of the city and manages development from inception to delivery.

As a high performing planning department, we deal with a wide range of applications.  We are a dynamic and forward-thinking team with a can-do approach and are always striving to improve our service.  We recognise the importance of developing a strong, robust and resilient team through learning and development.

The service area sits within a larger team alongside Planning Policy and Environment which encompasses a number of individual but related specialisms all focused on delivering a city for those wishing to live and work here. Those specialisms include Planning, Ecology, Trees and Landscape, Urban Design, Conservation, Archaeology and Environmental Protection.

We are looking for a Principal Town Planner to join our Development Management Service. You will be a key player in a close-knit team assisting in the provision of a customer focused planning service in the sustainable growth and regeneration of our city.

Please note that this salary benefits from an additional temporary annual £3000 market supplement to be reviewed in July 2022.

Who are we looking for?

To be considered for this role you will be an experienced, enthusiastic and talented planning professional with a proven track record of being responsible for your own wide, varied caseload including major and complex applications.  You will have experience in achieving quality planning outcomes and be able to showcase how you have supported others to achieve the same.

If you are a full member of the RTPI and hold a valid full UK driving licence, then please apply for this role by creating your CV with a covering letter showcasing examples of how you meet the requirements of the job description and person specification attached, having specific focus to the following key points.
