Our partnership includes Local Authorities, Children’s Trusts, NHS trusts and Universities. The partnership reflects the strategic priorities of the West Midlands Association of Directors of Children's Services (ADCS) and the West Midlands Association of Adult Social Services (ADASS). The partnership is led by Principal Social Workers, Workforce Development Leads and Senior Academics across Children’s and Adult Services. We bring together practitioners, senior managers, academics, researchers and experts by experience to support us in our work.

Our vision is to achieve excellence in social work education and professional practice through a research-led and evidence based approach.

The role will involve working with students, practitioners, academics and workforce development colleagues to support changes to social work education and practice. The post holder will work as part of a small project team and will be responsible for providing regular reports and case studies to evidence progress and impact.

The role will focus on providing a close practice-based relationship with research and teaching across the Partnership. The role will include leading on specific projects to improve practice and support the West Midlands Teaching Partnership’s activities, which are aimed at developing and supporting high standards of social work practice throughout the region.

This post is exempted under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and as such appointment to this post will be conditional upon the receipt of a satisfactory response to a check of police records via Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).

Who are we looking for?

In order to be successful with this role it is essential that you have knowledge of current developments in social work education and practice leadership; knowledge of professional standards, ethics and values that underpin social work practice; and knowledge of research and applying this to direct practice.

You will have extensive knowledge and experience of children’s and/or adults’ social work across a variety of teams and agencies that will enable you to drive forward the ambitions of the West Midlands Social Work Teaching Partnership.

This will be a very visible role within the Partnership and a great opportunity to showcase your ability and develop your social work practice in a very busy but rewarding environment.

The post holder will need to have be Registered Qualified Social Worker with Social Work England who has attained an undergraduate and/or post-graduate degree in Social Work. The post holder will need to have completed the Full Practice Educator Award.
