The Education Entitlement Service (EES) strives to deliver outstanding services for our customers, predominately the children of Coventry, who may be requiring access to education or alternative education provision. We ensure vulnerable children are appropriately supported; have a voice, that hopefully leads to their high achievement and excellent progress.
The EES is made up of a diverse range of teams all working together to recognise, support and apply innovative solutions to address the growing issues in relation to trying to educate some of our most vulnerable pupils in schools.
The Work Related Learning (WRL) Team works to improve the education outcomes for young people that are disengaged from education with the focus being improving their life chances and sustaining positive progression. The team actively work in partnership with local Training Providers and Coventry's Further Education College.
What is the job role?
The successful candidate will be supporting students accessing Coventry Alternative Provision (CAP) to successfully engage and complete their Alternative Provision programme, enabling them to achieve positive outcomes such as in personal and character development, improving life skills, awards, and/or positive destinations.
You will develop positive relationships and act as a main point of contact between schools, training providers, students, and parents/carers to uphold high levels of communication regarding Coventry Alternative Provisions and provide ongoing advice and support to training providers and schools to support positive outcomes for students.
You will oversee and monitor the delivery of Alternative Provision Programmes in line with the framework and against the Specifications (KPIs).
You will be expected to act as a Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead; supporting on the delivery of training sessions for professionals to ensure all Training Providers providing services for CAP are adhering to safeguarding policy and procedures, including KCSIE.
This post is exempted under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and as such appointment to this post will be conditional upon the receipt of a satisfactory response to a check of police records via Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).
Who are we looking for?
The successful candidate will have a strong background in education, or a related field together with a passion for improving outcomes for children and young people’s accessing Alternative Provision and will additionally have knowledge of:
- Understanding of Alternative Provision Guidance and school/local authority statutory duties.
- Awareness of statutory procedures around safeguarding, child protection and Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE)

The Coventry Alternative Provision Personalised Monitoring and Outreach Officer will have responsibility for engaging and monitoring students accessing educational programmes through Alternative Provision settings so they may have successful outcomes.
