The Education Entitlement Service (EES) strives to deliver outstanding services for our customers, predominately the children of Coventry, who may be requiring access to education or alternative education provision. We ensure vulnerable children are appropriately supported; have a voice, that hopefully leads to their high achievement and excellent progress.

The EES is made up of a diverse range of teams all working together to recognise, support and apply innovative solutions to address the growing issues in relation to trying to educate some of our most vulnerable pupils in schools. 

The Coventry Extended Learning Centre (ELC) is a pupil referral unit for Key Stage 3 & 4 pupils who have struggled to access mainstream school education owing to a number of differing factors including exclusion.  Our dedicated staff work to re-engage young people who commonly arrive with negative views of education, of their own prospects and of themselves.  We build trust to enable them to stretch themselves and achieve their maximum potential.

What is the job role?

The core purpose of Coventry ELC is ‘Enhancing Futures’ - maximising the potential of all our students.  We seek to identify and meet our students’ needs to enable us to reintegrate them into mainstream school or into special educational settings or to support them to successfully complete Year 11 with us.  We take huge pride and pleasure in helping young people to believe in themselves and others, moving on to a brighter future.

Coventry ELC is looking for a dynamic Personalised Learning Coordinator to join our dedicated and solution-focused team.  The role is stimulating, engaging and extremely rewarding.

Job Purpose:

  • Under the supervision of the CELC Leadership team, to undertake a lead role in ensuring the effective arrangement and co-ordination of personalised learning provision.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Monitor attendance and engagement levels for all students attending WRL Programmes.
  • Liaise with the Director of Personalised Learning and SENCo regarding Individual Programmes, contributing to their PEP’s and their LAC Reviews.
  • Implement and review interventions where appropriate, recording successes and evaluate interventions
  • Be responsible for pupil wellbeing and have safeguarding responsibilities for those students on Bespoke programmes and WRL courses. 
  • Attend and contribute to multi-agency meetings for students attending Bespoke programmes.
  • Meet with students regularly to ensure the WRL provision is suited to their needs, interests and career aspirations.
  • Complete student applications and withdrawal forms for students attending WRL programmes.
  • Coordinate and monitor personalised and individual programmes for pupils on role who require 1:1 tuition offsite, including any on Home Tuition.
  • Be responsible for maintaining accurate and appropriate records to ensure the effective administration of the programmes including relevant information systems.
  • Ensure student progress is carefully monitored, appropriate records are maintained, and that at least termly progress reports are produced for school and parents.
  • Work in partnership with Key Workers, the WRL Team and other agencies in identifying any support required by providers or students to ensure successful outcomes.
  • Manage the application process from Year 11 to Post-16 for all pupils on bespoke individual programmes.
  • Coordinate Work Experience Programmes.
  • Make arrangements to ensure students access provision with minimum difficulty, e.g. supply appropriate and timely information about students, students have access to taster sessions, access to FSM, bus passes etc.
  • Be responsible for developing effective networks and partnerships with training providers, employers and other appropriate organisations, ensuring effective systems are in place to monitor outcomes of provision against key performance indicators.
  • Organise half termly meetings with Local Authority WRL Coordinators and providers.
  • Effectively liaise and communicate with parents/carers, employers, providers and other relevant agencies in relation to the needs and requirements of both students and the school.
  • Ensure that all record keeping and associated paperwork are accurate, up to date and maintained in accordance with policies and procedures.

This post is exempted under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and as such appointment to this post will be conditional upon the receipt of a satisfactory response to a check of police records via Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).
