About the team we are recruiting to
Coventry City Council's Payroll & Pensions Service provides the full range of services to Council, as well as to external customers on a traded service basis.
Our People Plan 2020-2022 sets out our ambitions as a HR service that will inspire others, drive and secure opportunities to improve and transform the services we offer to the citizens of Coventry. The continuous improvement of systems and processes is a key element of this.
The work of our team spreads across two main areas: Council services and external customers, and we provide our services to over 100 customers, paying up to 20,000 people. We have an excellent reputation and wish to grow our capacity for new business opportunities.
What is the job role?
Following the reorganisation of the service, an opportunity has arisen for 2 x Payroll Leads.
These roles will undertake the full range of payroll tasks ensuring the activities of the team are undertaken in accordance with statutory rules and regulations employment legislation, Council policies and procedures and HR performance objectives.
This includes keeping up to date with statutory regulatory and policy developments.
You will also assist with the training and development of team members and allocation of work to ensure deadlines are met and accuracy maintained.
You will liaise with and advise colleagues, managers, and customers, on the regulations and legislation in relation to payroll.
Who are we looking for?
We are looking for an experienced payroll professional with in depth and up to date knowledge of good practice in payroll provision, along with the legal, statutory and HMRC requirements that apply.
You must be able to work under pressure and balance conflicting workloads and priorities.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential for working with the range of people within the role.
