Coventry Children’s Services has a specialist Children Disability Team (CDT) which provides support to children and young people up to the age of 18 who have a lifelong learning/physical disability.
The CDT is passionate about working with children, families and other professionals to achieve the best outcomes for vulnerable children. The team undertake children and family assessments and works with children in need, children subject to child protection plans and looked after children. A multi-disciplinary approach is modelled in the team in partnership with both universal and mainstream services to support children, young people and their families.
What is the job role?
We have a Operational Support Apprentice post vacancy within our Children’s Disability Team, this office deal with children and their families who have been assessed as requiring support from social care.
This post will entail taking phone calls, some reception duties, filing, photocopying, learning petty cash systems and in-house systems that you will maintain and oversee with the support of colleagues and all which will be explained, training given, around those expectations.
This post is exempted under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and as such appointment to this post will be conditional upon the receipt of a satisfactory response to a check of police records via Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).
Who are we looking for?
We need someone who is willing to learn, reliable and mature in thinking due to the area of work they will be supporting, we sometimes have young people and families who are upset and frustrated with their situation and can get very agitated and need someone who will be able to help support defusing a situation to enable you to get the information required and talk to workers on site for support but you will also be fully supported by line manager and colleagues on how to deal with any situations.
The successful candidate will work towards a Level 3 Business Administration qualification. This is an 18 month apprenticeship opportunity which if successfully completed could help to secure gainful employment within the Children’s Disability Team.
