About the team we are recruiting to

The Adult Education Service is part of Coventry City Council. We provide a wide range of courses for Coventry residents age 19+ and much of our provision is targeted at people with the highest levels of need.
We offer long courses in English, maths, English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL), ICT/Digital and vocational subjects such as Early Years, along with provision for adults with learning disabilities.
We also offer a very wide range of short community courses in arts, crafts, music, dance, exercise, fitness and family learning. In addition, we run a highly supportive study programme for young people.
Our work-based learning offer includes Apprenticeships in the following subject areas:
- Nursery Workers
- Teaching Assistants
- Leadership/Management; and
- Customer Care.
We also provide courses for adults who are seeking work via the Council’s Job Shop.
Our main base is at Southfields Old School, CV1 5EJ, with provision delivered at around 25 other sites within Coventry, mostly in areas of highest need.

What is the job role?
We are looking for an autonomous and motivated Occupational Therapist to join the Therapy and Equipment Service. You will work alongside customers with wide range of disabilities including, physical, learning and cognitive disabilities, providing planned programmes of therapeutic intervention to maximise functional ability, thus enabling the person to achieve optimum control of their lives, reduce dependency and increasing independence.
You will be responsible for undertaking specialist functional assessments to establish if the customer meets the criteria for provision of service.
This post is exempted under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and as such appointment to this post will be conditional upon the receipt of a satisfactory response to a check of police records via Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).
Who are we looking for?

A qualified Occupational Therapist with experience in health and/or social care setting with a minimum of 2 years post qualifying.

Have experience of working in major adaptations, complex moving and handling and enablement.

Excellent interpersonal skills working with people, formal/informal carers and health and social care professionals

Broad experience of working with people with complex medical conditions and knowledge of multi-pathology

Complete comprehensive therapy strength- bases assessments and client-centred enablement plans.

Organising, prioritising case load and delegating to Occupational Therapy Assistants to meet client – centred objectives

Self- motivated with a flexible approach
