The Education Entitlement Service (EES) strives to deliver outstanding services for our customers, predominately the children of Coventry, who may be requiring access to education or alternative education provision. We ensure vulnerable children are appropriately supported; have a voice, that hopefully leads to their high achievement and excellent progress.

The EES is made up of a diverse range of teams all working together to recognise, support and apply innovative solutions to address the growing issues in relation to trying to educate some of our most vulnerable pupils in schools. 

Coventry Music Service are the lead provider of Music Education in the city and the Lead Organisation of Coventry Music Education Hub.  Our goal is to deliver an inclusive offer of Music Education across the city as part of the Education Entitlement Service. 

What is the job role?

Coventry Music are looking to recruit a dynamic, enthusiastic and passionate music educator to deliver in whole class, SEND or Curriculum music lessons across the city. We are looking for someone with high quality instrumental and/or vocal skills who can deliver in a variety of settings whilst also supporting Coventry Music to expand and implement the key strategies of the Music Education Hub, focusing on inclusion and access for all children and young people in the city. For a full time member of the team there will be an expectation to deliver music provision for 20 hours per week in Coventry Schools.

Initially this post is funded until Summer 2024 and will be reviewed alongside the Music Hub Investment Process to continue into Autumn 2024 and beyond.  

We are open to flexible working arrangements including part time.

This post is exempted under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and as such appointment to this post will be conditional upon the receipt of a satisfactory response to a check of police records via Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).
 

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for candidates who are:

  • Experienced in music education and knowledgeable of a music education hub
  • Have the ability to generate relationships with schools and stakeholders to expand the delivery of music education across the city
  • Deliver and lead sessions in their musical area of expertise
  • Confident to teach to whole class groups in instrumental and curriculum lessons and/or deliver SEND specific work.
  • Deliver and co-ordinate projects and events both inside and outside of the school day and are flexible to work evenings and weekends across the whole year.

Following recommendations from Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE) for an additional pre employment check with effect 1 Sept 22, please note, an online search may form part of this recruitment process.
