About the team we are recruiting to

The Education Entitlement Service (EES) strives to deliver outstanding services for our customers, predominately the children of Coventry, who may be requiring access to education or alternative education provision. We ensure vulnerable children are appropriately supported; have a voice, that hopefully leads to their high achievement and excellent progress.

The EES is made up of a diverse range of teams all working together to recognise, support and apply innovative solutions to address the growing issues in relation to trying to educate some of our most vulnerable pupils in schools. 

Coventry Music Service are the lead provider of Music Education in the city and the Lead Organisation of Coventry Music Education Hub.  Our goal is to deliver an inclusive offer of Music Education across the city as part of the Education Entitlement Service. 

What is the job role?

The successful candidate will be the delivery lead on 'Positive Choices' a Youth Music funded programme in partnership with West Midlands Police, Public Health and multiple Coventry Music Education Hub partners, alongside supporting the Coventry Music Education Hub in its delivery of the core and extension roles as part of the National Plan for Music Education.

They will support the management team in ensuring inclusivity and engagement of all children and young people in the city. Facilitate the delivery of workshops in a variety of settings and support delivery of music centres and events under supervision of the Lead Learning and Development team.

This role is a fixed-term contract until March 2023 initially.

Term Time Only plus 3 Weeks (42 weeks per year)  salary will be pro-rated to number of weeks worked.

Working alongside colleagues they will develop programmes to support Music Hub and Music Service objectives including; building relationships with schools and other organisations, supporting tutors, enabling high quality music provision, creating and developing progression routes and redefining music education in the city.

This post is exempted under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and as such appointment to this post will be conditional upon the receipt of a satisfactory response to a check of police records via Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).
 

Who are we looking for?

Someone who has a real passion to develop music education in Coventry. Enabling more children and young people to access high quality music opportunities across all genres and types of music regardless of their background. The successful candidate will be a good communicator with schools and able to advocate and support music education across all types of formal and informal Education Settings. They will have a passion and skill set to deliver music groups and support the delivery of programmes in and out of school including 'Positive choices' a programme to support young people to make positive life choices in partnership with West Midlands Police, Public Health and multiple Coventry Music Education Hub partners

Interview date(s): 14th and 15th July - Wednesday 14th July shortlisted candidates will be invited (Covid restrictions dependant) to be included in facilitating a workshop with a group of young musicians - this would take place early evening at 5.00 pm - 7.00 pm.
