About the team we are recruiting to

Adult Social Care is part of the People Directorate within Coventry City Council.  We have a simple vision and strategy that defines what we are trying to achieve, our purpose and our approach which underpin the principles of Adult Social Care, and we continue to work in support of this.

In a simple sense all our work, at whatever level should continue to support the strategy of: ‘Providing support, in the least intrusive manner possible, based on the assets, resources and abilities that are available to people’.

Adult Social Care encompasses a wide range of vital services covering;

  • Commissioning Team – we commission and work with a number of providers, to ensure that people with care needs have access to a range of good quality support to enable them to live independent and fulfilling lives
  • Social Work Services - we work with individuals who have care and support needs, and with their carers be they older or younger adults
  • Occupational Therapy and Equipment Services - we aim to enhance people’s ability to live safely and independently in their home
  • Internally Provided Services – we provide direct support to people enabling those in most need to live independent and fulfilled lives
  • Business Systems and Continuous Improvement - we provide a range of services including Financial Assessments, provider payment processing and Business Systems administration. The Business Systems team provide support to Adult Social Care, Children’s Services and Education Services.

What is the job role?

This is a fabulous opportunity for ambitious, highly motivated qualified and Social Work England registered Social Workers and Approved Mental Health Professionals  to join our rapidly  developing  Mental Health Services in Coventry

This post is exempted under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and as such appointment to this post will be conditional upon the receipt of a satisfactory response to a check of police records via Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).

 

Who are we looking for?

We are recruiting qualified Social Workers to work within our Mental Health and Wellbeing Team based at Tile Hill Health Centre in the West of Coventry, Recovery Team based at Swanswell Point, Coventry City Centre, and Specialist Social Work posts as listed below across Mental Health Teams.

You will be supporting people who are living with a range of mental health challenges including psychosis, mood and personality disorders, and self-harming behaviours.  

The Teams work towards specific interventions embracing strength-based recovery practices, Safeguarding, The Care Act, Mental Health and Mental Capacity Acts. The Teams are fully Multi-Disciplinary, incorporating Community Mental Health Nurses, Approved Mental Health Professionals, Social Workers, Occupational Therapists, Psychologists, Psychiatrists, Support Workers and Clerical Staff.

All Teams operate on an ‘all age’ basis and work across the entire City.

Forensic Mental Health Social Worker posts

Funding has been secured to help develop and contribute to a newly planned joint service with Coventry and Warwickshire Partnership Trust. There will be two Social Worker/ AMHP Posts (or AMHP in training) :

Coventry Recovery Team

You will be working initially from the Recovery Team in Coventry and will help deliver a social work service for people who live in Coventry who are subject to restriction orders under the Mental Health Act and who have a  mental disorder and a history of criminal activities. The role will include liaison work with Police, Probation, The Multi Agency Public Protection Panel, The Ministry of Justice and colleagues across mental health and adult social care services. You will be part of a small team of mental health professionals including a psychologist and Community Nurses. Ideally, you will be an Approved Mental Health Professional (or in training or willing to train).

Coventry Community and Wellbeing Team

You will have experience working with people who are living with a learning disability and or autism. This post will initially be based within the Mental Health and Wellbeing Team at Tile Hill and will work closely with the Transforming Care Teams for people living within Coventry and Warwickshire. The role will include liaison work with Brooklands Hospital, Police and Probation Services and colleagues across health and social care.  You will have experience of working with people who are subject to The Mental Health Act  or The Mental Capacity Act and have experience of working with people who are subject to Restriction Orders via the Ministry of Justice and the Mental Health Act. You will be part of a small team of mental health professionals including a psychologist and Community Nurses. Ideally, you will be an Approved Mental Health Professional (or in training or willing to train).

Mental Health Access Hub and Home Treatment Team

AMHP (or AMHP in training) Rough Sleeping and Prevention of Rough Sleeping and Substance Misuse Services.

10% Shift Allowance

On-call fees and additional rates of pay for out-of-hours working

Salary will be pro rata to the number of hours worked.

As we are advertising multiple positions, there is no specific interview date for any of the posts. We will be arranging flexible interview sessions on an individual basis and as we make appointments, we will remove positions accordingly.
