What is the job role?
Multiply is a government-funded programme offering free numeracy courses and initiatives to boost maths skills and confidence. The role(s) are to support delivery, monitoring, and reporting for Multiply at Coventry City Council.
The key purpose is to develop teaching materials, deliver numeracy and money management activities within community settings, and provide on course and exit information in order to increase knowledge, confidence, and skills in numeracy and financial literacy. This will support achievement of outputs and outcomes outlined in the project proposal submitted to West Midlands Combined Authority (WMCA). Watch the video at https://youtu.be/SYV0ZfrW0y0 for more info.
This post is exempted under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and as such appointment to this post will be conditional upon the receipt of a satisfactory response to a check of police records via Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).
Who are we looking for?
We have two full-time maths tutor vacancies offered on a fixed term basis until 31st March 2024 (in the first instance). We are looking for dynamic maths tutors who have experience of designing and delivering short numeracy and/or introductory financial literacy modules to adults who may have been out of education for some time.
You will have a successful track record in introducing maths with the aim of busting myths and tackling negative mindsets around numeracy, and developing numeracy skills around money management to provide short-term fixes to address specific skills needs and/or impacts of increased cost of living.
In addition, you will be used to delivering wrap-around information and advice linking participants to additional sources of support and advising on progression opportunities to formal maths courses and qualifications. You do not need to be a qualified maths teacher; what matters is your ability to effectively deliver courses that empower individuals to apply numeracy in their daily lives.
Although the two vacancies being advertised are full-time, we encourage individuals interested in part-time employment and job sharing to apply. Previous applicants need not apply.
Following recommendations from Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE) for an additional pre employment check with effect 1 Sept 22, please note, an online search may form part of this recruitment process.
For full details on the application process please read the attached document on our jobs page labelled 'Coventry City Council Application Process'
Interview date: Tuesday 18th July
