About the team we are recruiting to

The Climate Change & Sustainability Team has an instrumental role in the delivery of the Council’s ambitions, and in particular the vision to tackle climate change and promote a green economy. The team has a major role to play in not only setting an example for others to follow but mobilising all that live and work in the city to embrace the challenges that climate change and delivering a sustainable future presents us.  

To achieve our ambition, the Climate Change & Sustainability Team carry out several key activities, including:  

·        Delivery of the Coventry & Warwickshire Green Business Programme.  

·        Environmental consultancy support for businesses.  

·        Development of the Cities’ Climate Change Strategy and Action Plans.   

·        Support to residents experiencing fuel poverty.   

·        Identifying and delivering investment opportunities and projects.

What is the job role?

This is a 12 month fixed term contract within our Climate Change and Sustainability team. As Marketing & Events Coordinator, you will be promoting the objectives and offering of the Green Business Programme, which is part-funded by the European Regional Development Fund. The programme aims to support SMEs based in Coventry and Warwickshire to reduce carbon emissions and support the shift towards a low carbon economy. The role comprises of promoting the grants and business support available to SMEs.

This role is also pivotal in developing the Green Business Network by organising and promoting both face-to-face events and webinars. The role will also involve the development of a detailed marketing and communication plan, promotional collateral, presentations, public relations work, producing press releases and use of social media platforms. In addition, the role will support the promotion of the wider climate change agenda and work closely with the Council’s communication team.   

Who are we looking for?

The post holder will be able to demonstrate experience in event management and their promotion, hosting both in-face events and webinars. The post holder will also be able to demonstrate experience of developing marketing and communication plans, enabling the promotion of the Green Business Programme and Network to SMEs within Coventry and Warwickshire. This will include organising and attending events & webinars, producing promotional collateral, market research, google analytics, client engagement, and producing press releases / reacting to national and local news stories. The post holder will also have a high level of verbal and written communication skills, able to present information/concepts to all levels. It would be desirable for the post holder to have knowledge of environmental issues.
