The Employment & Skills Service is part of Coventry City Council.  We work with a range of delivery partners to provide a wide portfolio of top quality support to Coventry residents of all ages who are looking for work.  We work with partners across the city and our Employer Hub actively works with local employers to generate opportunities for local people. 

Our friendly and welcoming Job Shop is situated in Coventry City Centre. We are here to support all Coventry residents to search for employment, training, apprenticeships and work placements.  People can explore a wide range of local vacancies that are updated daily and access training opportunities.  

We also provide ground-breaking specialist support for local residents who face multiple and sometimes complex barriers that make it hard for them to find a job.  The Job Shop and our exciting range of specialist employment support programmes are among the very best support available in the UK 

What is the job role?

 We also provide ground-breaking specialist support for Coventry residents who face multiple and sometimes complex barriers that make it hard for them to find a job.  The Job Shop and our exciting range of specialist employment support programmes are among the very best support available in the UK.

Our Programme Management Team has an enviable track record of successfully attracting, managing and delivering a wide range of large grant funded programmes, particularly European Social Funds (ESF). The team is currently responsible for leading on 4 large ESF funded programmes with a range of delivery partners from across the city and we will shortly be leading on developing partnerships to bid for additional grant funding. These programmes further enhance the lives of Coventry citizens by providing high quality and personalised education, training and employment support.

What is the job role:

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual with experience in an administration and/or project support role to join us as a Link Worker.

About this role:

This role will be split between:

  • Supporting the Programme Management Team with the management of our ESF funded programmes.
  • Supporting the Job Shop with the preparation of ESF claims.

Duties will include:

  • Supporting the development and improvement of systems and procedures.
  • Maintaining accurate records and monitoring financial and performance information.
  • Assisting with the preparation of claims by auditing and quality checking information to ensure that it meets ESF eligibility requirements.
  • Liaising with partners in relation to queries and providing support with different aspects of the claims process.
  • Attending and taking minutes at meetings
  • Provide excellent customer service to all using the Job Shop in a timely and attentive way making sure customer needs are met in a manner that reflects positively on Coventry City Council and the Job Shop.

Who are we looking for?

  • You will be an excellent communicator with the ability to deal with a variety of people both verbally and in writing.
  • The ability to work to deadlines is essential, along with a high level of attention to detail and accuracy to ensure files and records are maintained to the standards expected by both the City Council and funding bodies.
  • You will have excellent ICT skills and be proficient in using a variety of packages in order to accurately record, analyse, monitor and review information. The ability to organise yourself and work effectively as part of a team, on your own and with a wide range of partners is also critical to this role.
  • You will need to be able to work in a flexible way, including working from home and in the Job Shop. You will be required to attend essential meetings and visiting delivery partners premises to carry out claim audits. The ability to be self-motivated, organised and responsive is essential, as is the ability to use Microsoft Teams to communicate and participate in meetings.
  • You will possess a can-do attitude and be solution focused to support your colleagues to achieve positive outcomes.

The role is initially fixed term until 31st December 2023
