Grade 4 £20,043 - £23,484 pro rata per annum
The governors of this popular, over-subscribed, Catholic school are seeking to appoint a Lay Chaplain who is able to:
• Support the Leadership Team and Priest Chaplain in further developing the Catholic life of the school
• Work both as part of a team and on their own initiative
• Work with all staff and students (aged 11-19) and our local community
• Develop a role that is highly valued in our school

The successful candidate will:
• Be able to lead, plan and prepare the liturgical events for the whole school on the liturgical calendar.
• Offer opportunities of prayer for staff and students.
• Support students and staff, especially in times of trouble such as bereavement.
• Co-ordinate the spectrum intervention programme for all key stages.
• Promote the Catholic ethos of Cardinal Newman at every opportunity by, being visible and supportive around school, especially at break and lunchtimes.
• Prepare students for the sacrament of Reconciliation in Lent/Advent by working with the RE department.
• Manage the team of Eucharistic Ministers and ensure they are trained and allocated to the appropriate services.
• Monitor, record and deliver the Chaplaincy award programme.
• Play a role in the pastoral system by collaboratively supporting students with emotional needs by working closely with HOY and Safeguarding team
• Liaise with parents as appropriate and be prepared to visit homes and attend funerals on behalf of the school.
• Provide retreat opportunities for staff and students within school and at external locations;
• Be responsible for the running of retreats at Alton Castle.
• Develop thought provoking attractive displays in school to engage students, staff and visitors at key times during the church’s year.
• Be responsible for a small budget
• Attend Archdiocesan chaplaincy network meetings.
• Plan, deliver and train the chaplaincy team for in house and outreach retreats for five feeder schools to support their sacramental programme.
• Be responsible for the booking, planning and lead on Archdiocesan events, national events and year group retreats.
• Co-ordinate and deliver the Holy Family youth group.
