Lateral Flow Testing Operations - Various roles

About the team we are recruiting to

Coventry has been selected to offer Lateral Flow Testing as part of the Government response to COVID-19. Lateral Flow Testing is a test which can detect the COVID-19 virus in asymptomatic people.

Our testing programme has successfully commenced and will start to increase in capacity on a week by week basis with an ambition of administering just under 30,000 tests in week 4 and we are in a position where we need to expand the existing team to resource a further number of test centres across the city. 

In order to resource the test centres efficiently, we are looking to recruit to a number of roles to support both the Testing Operations (responsible for supporting and recording tests within testing sites) and the Service Operations (responsible for the management and co-ordination of testing sites).

What is the job role?

The job roles cover a range of duties as follows:

 

Meet and Greet

  • Ensures crowd control and manages queues to ensure social distancing prior to site entry.

Registration Assistant

  • Providing verbal support to subject registering on their device.
  • Adding people to the register if not already registered and providing support if QR code is not scanning.
  • If person cannot use own device, requests verbal consent from subject to complete registration on their behalf.
  • Provides testing kit to person to take to the testing station.
  • Directs person to available testing station.

Test Assistant

  • On hand to provide individuals with additional verbal instructions if required.
  • Ensures the self-administered test is labelled appropriately and has barcodes attached.
  • Ensures tests have been passed test to a Processing Operative.
  • Directs individuals to exit, with test card.

Processing Operative

  • Sets up sample for analysis.
  • Pipettes reagent to sample, following SOP.
  • Times the sample analysis.
  • Await and read result displayed and mark it on device.

Results Recorder

  • Pushes results for digital upload.
  • QA another Processing Operative's results analysis.
  • Enters result onto a managed device, including scan of QR code.
  • Result is automatically sent to dashboard and Test & Trace

Team Leader

  • Will be Responsible for overall delivery of testing and managing escalations.
  • Ensures smooth operation, organisation teams and test slots.

Supplies Co-ordinator 

  • Ensures test kits are stored in a clinically safe manner, receives supplies and manage stock and manages devices updates.

 

There will be an expectation that you will cover one or all roles if, or as and when required to ensure the smooth running of the testing site.

You also be required to cover at any one of our sites already open, or due to open.  All sites are situated within the boundaries of Coventry; therefore, you will need to be able to travel across the city to a designated site.

 

The hourly rate is £10.21.

 

We are looking for people who can start immediately, subject to satisfactory pre- employment checks (Right to Work in the UK, Medical clearance and a current Reference).

In return, we can offer you full time hours per week pre Christmas and post Christmas, for a period of time, under a casual contract.

On this occasion, we are only looking for individuals who can offer full time hours on a weekly basis only.

We anticipate shifts may operate between 7am - 8pm, Monday - Friday and possibly include weekends – but will be confirmed dependant on test site.

Who are we looking for?

We need people who are flexible, reliable and committed to turning up for shift as consistency is key to ensure we are working within the parameters of COVID guidance. 

We are looking for people who are organised, can follow instruction, ability to communicate clearly and succinctly and follow process with accuracy and efficiency.  Good interpersonal skills and the ability to problem solve and think on your feet will be required.

You will be an advocate to promote the Public Health response to combatting the COVID pandemic, therefore teamwork and positivity is key.

Dependant on the test site, there may also be a requirement to work outdoors in temporary units.  So, the ability to work in all temperatures / weathers will be a must.

 

All post holders will be provided with full training to be able to successfully fulfil the role requirements; suitable levels of PPE will be available for each role in-line with current NHS and government guidance.

We will be working to and adhering to Health & Social Care guidance to ensure the upmost protection to both colleagues and clients during this process.
