Information and Governance Officer

About the team we are recruiting to

The Information Governance Team (IGT) supports the Council in meeting its obligations whilst working within the constraints of legal, regulatory, and recognised business management practices relating to information.

​Our objective is to ensure compliance to Legislation and regulations relating to the creation, exploitation, retention and disposal of information whilst maintaining its security at all times. We do this by:

  • Offering advice and guidance to teams and individuals on the activities listed above
  • Identifying opportunities for business improvement activity
  • Generating Management Information to challenge and enhance business performance
  • Ensuring organisational compliance with Coventry City Council's policies and procedures around information.

What is the job role?

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Council’s Information Governance team (IGT) based at the Council House.

We are seeking to recruit an Information Disclosure Officer to join the IG function to carry out work dealing with the disclosure of information under the Data Protection Act 2018, in relation to court proceedings and contribute generally towards the work carried out by the Team.

The function of IG is a fast paced, high pressure environment with regular conflicting demands.

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for someone who has the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, working to strict, and often tight deadlines.

The role demands that the post holder maintain strict confidentiality, as you’ll be handling sensitive personal data as standard. Facilitating meetings for, and supervising Police officers reviewing case files will be your primary responsibility.

Experience of redacting documents for disclosure is essential (at least 1 year operational) and a working knowledge of GDPR/DPA 2018 is required.

This is a great opportunity to work in a team with supportive and experienced professionals of whose focus is the effective use and management of the Council’s information assets to realise maximum value whilst minimising Information-related risks.
