About the team we are recruiting to

Coventry City Council is the 9th biggest city in England and has ambitious plans to grow its economy, reputation and quality of life, including by the delivery of the title UK City of Culture in 2021.

The Council’s Business Investment and Culture service has a remit for economic development, inward investment, sustainability, culture, sport, tourism and events.  The team we are recruiting to is responsible for a range of functions, including: 

• Delivery of festivals and major events
• Promotion of leisure and business tourism
• Operation of the convention bureau; and 
• Management of the fourteenth century St Mary’s Guildhall.  

It is a lively group of largely specialist officers with responsibility for strategy, funding and project delivery across its sections.  It has recently expanded significantly, taking on new staff to develop and deliver activities stimulated by the title of UK City of Culture in 2021 and being a host of the Commonwealth Games in 2022.

What is the job role?

We are looking for someone with excellent creative and digital skills to design, develop and deliver visitor literature, including city centre publications, marketing campaigns and the content of visitor websites and digital output for Coventry as a visitor destination.

Our aim is to drive an increase in visitor footfall and spend, stimulate economic growth, and raise Coventry’s profile as a destination of distinction for conferencing and business, education and innovation, tourism, culture and events.

Who are we looking for?

If you are digitally minded and innovative, we are seeking someone to provide direct digital and social media output to promote and support the business, leisure, events and extended stay markets (e.g. weekend breaks, cultural tourism).  You will have responsibility to develop, promote and support marketing partnerships and cross-promotion between key venues, hotels and events and manage and maintain performance data supporting key platforms (e.g. websites, Apps).

This role is an opportunity for the right candidate to promote Coventry in an unique way, to attract and raise our profile – you could also be raising yours !
