What is the job role?
In this role you will be working to ensure that appropriate inspections for the adopted highways are carried out and that the resulting maintenance and service requirements are executed to specification and to ensure that all Highways related enquiries are dealt with to a high standard.
You will be delivering high quality standards of customer care to the citizens of Coventry. A high level of written and verbal communication skills, numerical skills, strong computer skills, the ability to work independently and a flexible approach to work will all be advantageous to the successful candidate.
You will be enrolled on accredited Highway Safety Inspectors Modular Training and Assessment. Successful completion of this course will allow you to be entered on the Institute of Highway Engineers National Register of Highway Inspectors. An industry standard recognised qualification providing you with key skills.
Who are we looking for?
We are looking for someone with the appreciation and/or knowledge of highway maintenance engineering and the management and maintenance of the highways network. It would be an advantage to have experience of working for or with Local Authority highways maintenance sector or of working with a Civil Engineering consultant or contractor at a similar level, but not essential.
As a successful candidate you will need to have a full current UK driving licence. You will have the ability to use and understand IT systems in an office-based environment including GIS/MapInfo and MS Office programs. You will have good communication skills and have the ability to work to deadlines and work under pressure.

- Details of your experience and ability to use and understand IT systems in an office based environment including, GIS/MapInfo and MS Office programs as this is a key skill requirement for this post.
- To ensure that we’re doing the best for our community we need to be responsive to individual customers (internally and externally) and ensure our services are based around the residents of Coventry in terms of choice and needs. Please can you give 2 examples of when you have delivered ‘good customer service’ and the outcome for both the customer and yourself?
- As an organisation we need to work together across teams, services, partners and organisational boundaries to deliver high quality services for local people. What qualities and behaviours do you think make a ‘good team member’ and what contribution would you make to the team to help achieve collaborative team working and goals?
