What is the job role?

As part of our unique offer, we have developed a team of specialist inclusion support staff who each contribute to our local offer and help to make sure that the needs of all our children are met. Our Speech, Language and Communication provision has been fulfilled very successfully by a HLTA who specialises in this area, however, this position has recently become available.  The Governors and Headteacher are looking for a passionate, forward-thinking HLTA to join our wonderful team.

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for someone who:

Has an excellent understanding of Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN) and is able to assess, identify next steps, plan a programme of delivery to meet need, review impact and adapt to best meet the needs of individual pupils

  • Has experience of working within an effective team to fulfil the statutory requirements for SLC within EHCPs and is able to work effectively with external agencies such as NHS SALT.
  • Has experience of established and impactful programmes such as WellComm, Speech Link, Makaton, Cued Articulation, Communicate in Print, NELI and other training for speech and language support.
  • Has experience of sharing best practice with the wider staff team to ensure quality first provision is in place for pupils with SLCN.
  • Nurtures, inspires and raises aspirations of all children, understanding how they learn best and giving them the feedback and provision that enables them to succeed.
  • Establishes and maintains highly effective relationships with staff, pupils, parents, governors and the community.
  • Is committed to their own professional development.
