Group Leader (Residential Deputy Manager)

About the team we are recruiting to

Do you have experience of working within a residential setting, meeting the needs of children and young people with a learning disability and additional needs?  

At Broad Park House we offer quality residential short breaks (respite) to children and young people who have a learning disability and may also have some additional physical or behavioural support needs, aged 5- 18 yrs. 

We are recruiting an additional Deputy Manager (Group Leader) to join our established Management Team.  

What is the job role?

We are seeking an enthusiastic, passionate and resilient leader with a good knowledge of residential care, the Children’s Homes Regulations (2015) and experience of working with children and young people who have a diverse range of needs. You will need to be able to establish high standards of care and have clear expectations of the staff that you will supervise and manage. 

You will provide effective support to your staff team by identifying strengths and areas for development through effective shift planning, supervisions, appraisals and reflective practice. 

You will need to be able to support the leadership team and staff to meet legislative requirements, Coventry City Council’s policies and procedures and work in partnership to safeguard and improve the outcomes of children who we offer a service to.  

This post is exempted under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and as such appointment to this post will be conditional upon the receipt of a satisfactory response to a check of police records via Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).

Who are we looking for?

Successful candidates will be required to work closely with the registered manager to embed Signs of Safety and implement a new electronic recording system. You will need to be able to use your own initiative and be expected to deputise for the Manager in their absence. 

We welcome applications from established Deputy  Managers and also applications from knowledgeable Residential Workers with a minimum of 2 years' experience who are able to identify evidence-based practice within their interview process. The successful candidate must have the Level 3 Diploma in Working with Children and young people in residential Childcare (or equivalent)  

In order to meet the requirements of Schedule 2 of the Children’s Homes Regulations (2015), you must provide a full history of any previous employment and any gaps since leaving school. Candidates must also be at least 4 years older than the eldest child that we offer a service to.
