About the team we are recruiting to

The Governor Support Service are looking for people to prepare the draft agenda and papers for Governing Board  meetings, attend Governing Board meetings and take formal minutes and provide support and guidance to Boards to support their effectiveness.  The majority of the meetings are outside of normal office hours, but there is an expectation to work flexibly within office hours also to ensure preparation for meetings and being available to provide support to Governing Boards.

What is the job role?

Maternity leave cover is required up until 20 March 2025 - Monday to Friday (term-time only).

22.5 hours, pro-rated salary: £12,608 - £14,424

As Clerk to the Governors, for a number of named schools, you will prepare the draft agenda, organise and circulate the papers and attend governors’ meetings (approx. 2 and 3 meetings a week) and take minutes of the proceedings.

You will also be responsible for the provision of support and detailed guidance to enable the governing boards to act effectively and legally, giving advice to the chair and governors on a wide range of governance matters to aid school improvement.  Therefore, there is a requirement to work flexibly to ensure that you are available in office hours to prepare for upcoming meetings, type up the minutes and provide ad hoc guidance to your Governing Boards.

Who are we looking for?

Someone to join our friendly and highly valued service who is an excellent communicator, administrator and accurate minute taker, who is confident to provide advice and guidance to Governing Board’s to support the delivery of effective governance of schools within Coventry and beyond.

It is desirable that the successful candidate has a clean, full driving licence and access to a car.

The post holder will be expected to attend meetings at schools across Coventry and Warwickshire on a daily basis.
