About the team we are recruiting to
The Governor Support Service consists of governance professionals and casual clerks supporting a variety of LA maintained schools and Multi Academy Trusts within Coventry and the surrounding area.
The Governor Support Service provides advice and guidance to Governing Boards to support them in making strategic decisions on behalf of schools and trusts and provides administrative support for board meetings including preparation of meeting agendas and papers and taking minutes of board meetings.
What is the job role?
The Governor Support Service is looking for a Governor Support Officer Apprentice to join our friendly and experienced team of Governance Professionals (also known as Clerks to Governors) to support effective governance in schools within the city and beyond by providing administrative support and be the named point of contact within the team for a number of Governing Boards.
This is a busy and varied role assisting the Senior Administration Assistant with preparing draft minutes for Clerks. In this role you will be:
- Preparing Governing Board agendas and documents to support a named number of Governing Boards and meetings being covered by casual Clerks (in line with the Service Level agreement)
- Attending and taking notes at some Governing Board meetings (supported by a senior member of the team)
- Assisting with preparing minutes for the meetings attended which will be quality assured
- Updating Governor membership, attendance and pull reports from GovernorHub (full training will be provided)
- Providing basic procedural advice to Governors via email or telephone
- Based in One Friargate and working from home with some attendance in the evenings at Governing Board meetings

*The pre-interview is a short session to give candidates further details of the apprenticeship role and to help you understand what to expect from and how to prepare for the final interview. You will also complete a short diagnostic assessment to check the level of Maths and English that you are currently working at and identify any support you may require.
