About the team we are recruiting to

Coventry City Councils vehicle workshops is a modern, well-equipped facility which maintains a large and diverse range of vehicles, plant and equipment. The successful applicant will be given an opportunity to develop and train in all aspects of the role, and whilst your experience is important for the role, you will gain valuable additional expertise in a number of manufacturers vehicles and specialist equipment. Due to Fleet and Workshops continued development and expansion, we now have 2 vacancies for Motor Vehicle Technicians with appropriate skills in HGV/LGV vehicle maintenance

What is the job role?

You will have the opportunity to undertake the service, inspection, repair, and maintenance of a varied range of vehicles, plant, and equipment.

The work ensures adherence to legislative and health and safety requirements, and is aligned to a planned inspection schedule, and agreed to procedures and targets.

We can offer you a very attractive package:

  • £32,020 Starting Salary (with experience) up to £35,411.
  • £2,144 Supplement in addition  to the above
  • £435 per annum tool allowance
  • 37-hour working week
  • Seasonal Overtime available (including standby & mileage pay)
  • Local Government Pension Scheme
  • 27 Days holiday plus bank holidays (rising to 32 days after five years)
  • Excellent working environment

Who are we looking for?

In addition to your qualification, you are likely to have extensive practical experience in fleet service, repair and maintenance including plant and large commercial vehicles.

You will have knowledge of the legislative requirements of legally maintaining a HGV fleet and You will have a flexible approach to work and an ability to adapt to a changing working environment to meet customer needs.

It would be also desirable, but not essential to be a qualified MOT tester.

Working Hours:  Mon - Thurs: 2.30pm - 11.00pm. Fri 11.00am - 4.00pm
