What is the job role?
Terms and Conditions: Permanent, 37 hours per week, term time only (+ 3 weeks)
Actual Salary: £17,429 - £18,496 pro rata per annum
Full time equivalent salary: £18,933 - £20,092 – Support staff Pay Scale
Hours of work: Monday to Thursday 8.00am – 16.00pm. Friday 8.00am – 15.30pm (Half an hour lunch break each day)

About the role
We are seeking to appoint a confident, caring and organised person to join our support staff team in the role of School First Aider and Administrator. The successful candidate will lead on all aspects of First Aid including assessing medical needs of students and staff whilst ensuring students with ongoing medical needs are supported in school in line with their Individual Health Care Plans. The position also includes administrative duties in support of the wider school, including reception.
Applicants must hold a full First Aid at Work or Paediatric First Aid certificate as a minimum requirement. The post holder must be willing to undertake additional training in support of students with medical conditions such as diabetes, anaphylaxis, asthma, sickle cell disease etc. The post holder will also be required to use SIMS, although training will be given. This post would be ideally suited to applicants with prior medical training and experience.
We are looking for someone who:
• As a minimum, holds a current First Aid at work and/or Paediatric First Aid certificate
• Is experienced, confident and organised in providing a First Aid service in a medical/first aid environment
• Has an excellent standard of general education including English and Maths
• Has exceptional communication skills, being able to remain calm and confident and make quick decisions in medical emergencies
• Is able to support all administrative work including reception and is confident in being a point of contact for students, staff, parents and visitors
• Is flexible, and can adapt to changing situations in a demanding environment
• Has proven ability to maintain accurate and detailed records
• Has a high level of knowledge and thorough understanding of ICT and software packages (SIMS experience would be advantageous but not essential)
• Is confident to work in a challenging environment and work under pressure handling situations with patience and sensitivity
All staff are expected to know what to do if they have concerns about a child, take on the responsibility for providing a safe environment and promoting children’s welfare, undertake regular safeguarding and child protection training and, familiarise themselves with https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/keeping-children-safe-in-education--2 part 1 and local policies and procedures as directed by the trust/academy.
