Adult Social Care is part of the People Directorate within Coventry City Council.  We have a simple vision and strategy that defines what we are trying to achieve, our purpose and our approach which underpin the principles of Adult Social Care, and we continue to work in support of this.

In a simple sense all our work, at whatever level should continue to support the strategy of: ‘Providing support, in the least intrusive manner possible, based on the assets, resources and abilities that are available to people’.

Adult Social Care encompasses a wide range of vital services covering;

• Social Work Services - we work with individuals who have care and support needs, and with their carers be they older or younger adults
• Occupational Therapy and Equipment Services - we aim to enhance people’s ability to live safely and independently in their home
• Internally Provided Services – we provide direct support to people enabling those in most need to live independent and fulfilled lives
• Business Systems and Continuous Improvement - we provide a range of services including Financial Assessments, provider payment processing and Business Systems administration. The Business Systems team provide support to Adult Social Care, Children’s Services and Education Services.

What is the job role?

The Financial Assessment and Operations Service provides front line support to adult social care service users and providers of care. The primary responsibilities of the service are to provide accurate and informed financial support to residents who use local authority funded care services. The team are responsible for undertaking assessments of resident’s financial circumstances and determining the amount of charges they will be required to pay towards their care services. In addition, the service is responsible for paying local authority commissioned providers of adult social care.

With the recently announced changes to the adult social care charging model, known as the Social Care Reforms, there has never been a more exciting time to join a diverse and driven team. 

The Financial Assessment Operational Manager provides overall leadership and technical expertise for the financial assessment service. Leading a team consisting of several different roles the manager has responsibility for providing oversight of operational processes, ensuring residents receive advice and guidance about adult social care charges, including accurate charging invoices. Over recent years the service has developed operational processes to streamline the way assessments are undertaken.

Who are we looking for?

For this role we are looking for an enthusiastic leader with a strong working knowledge of the adult social care charging regulations, someone who has a keen eye for continuous improvement and has an ability to challenge the status quo.
